But you might be wondering: What's the first step? The first step is to rehearse the presentation... Exhaustively! So, grab your script and start presenting your thesis in the mirror. When you watch the video during your first presentations, your self-criticism will be immense! You'll realize how bad it would be to present your work without any practice. But don't be scared or discouraged, as it's quite normal for your first presentations to be terrible! When you feel like you've delivered the presentation alone and haven't made any mistakes, it's time to move on to the second phase of practice. In the second phase, ideally, you should present it to a friend or relative. Someone who won't want to criticize you too much. In the third phase, present your thesis to a colleague who is knowledgeable about the subject and can ask questions. What to do before the presentation? The day before the panel, eat a light meal, drink plenty of water, and try to get a good night's sleep. This will prevent your body's physiological state from interfering with your presentation. Stomach aches, headaches, back pain, drowsiness, and other issues shouldn't occur if you take these precautions. What should you wear to present your thesis? Choose your presentation outfit while you're still rehearsing. Then choose discreet, light, and comfortable clothing that won't get in your way on the day of the presentation. On the day of the defense, arrive at the presentation venue early. If you're using a projector, laptop, or any other device, it's best to test it before the presentation. During the presentation The idea is for the presentation to be so quick and informative that the passage of time is unnoticeable. Speak while looking primarily at the evaluators. Ideally, you should look at them, and they should look at the presentation. How should you behave after presenting your final paper? Once you're finished speaking, you're safe! Nothing else can go wrong... Let the evaluators say whatever they want! Never interrupt an evaluator and listen carefully. Only answer what the panel asks, and do so as clearly as possible! After the presentation, time will be on your side, as another panel will soon begin, so use your time wisely. If you don't know how to answer, contextualize the question with another part of the work that you're more knowledgeable about. Show general knowledge of the topic. If necessary, use examples, comparisons, and metaphors. But don't leave any question unanswered! But if the question is off-topic, don't hesitate and say it wasn't within the scope of the research. What if the reviewer trashes your work? If a reviewer makes a negative comment, justify it just once. Don't argue! On the contrary... Reviewers love to criticize! So thank them for their criticism! Be humble. Say you'll improve your work before submitting the final version. Remember that your only goal is not to mess it up! When you're finished, convey a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment, and smile discreetly. Thank everyone present and the panel for their attention. If necessary, don't hold back your tears. These actions will build empathy with the reviewers, and this tends to increase your grade!
