#8 - "The Parting Glass" - Ballads in the Wilderness Series

#8 - "The Parting Glass" - Ballads in the Wilderness Series - Luddites on Location As we conclude this first week of the New Year, it would seem that chaos abounds. In the midst of it all, I find my “True North” in the knowledge of dear and faithful friends, near and far. There are many interpretations of "The Parting Glass", a Scottish song that has been sung in company and in solitude for over 200 years. Last November, on the snowy banks of Porcupine Creek, Montana, it was my turn to give it a go. I enjoy being alone in camp during the bright autumn days, but the companionship of our dog (and my protector), Oreo, and her good companion, Tag, brightened all of our days. I could describe their interaction as "antics", but that would do a disservice to their very real dedication to looking after horses, mules and hapless humans. I see the bond of friendship between Oreo and Tag, and I wish the same for us all. Many thanks to my pal, wrangler Alaina Schmidt, whom you see riding into camp with Oreo and Tag joyfully bounding ahead. Thank you also to our trail boss, Craig Neal, who heads up Broken Hart Adventures. Clayton Stubbs is the genius behind making sense of my iPhone recordings and putting them together to create this lovely video. "Good night and joy be with you all."
