The Story of Jimmy Piersall - From Mental Institution... to All-Star
Jimmy Piersall was a pro baseball player who battled mental health issues publicly, bringing its symptoms and treatment "out of the shadows." He was one of the first, with some level of fame, to do so. His story of perseverance is much more than just a bio of a ballplayer. His mother was often absent. His father had a temper. He signed with the Boston Red Sox at 18 years old and, shortly after, experienced a complete breakdown. But, he returned to baseball and his wife, had nine children, and never lost his 'quirky' personality. Jimmy taught the world that even those with personal struggles... can be All-Stars!
