Better Block Fay NC and InDepic Films    / indepicfilms   present Build A Better Haymount: A demonstration project brought to you by The National Association of REALTORS® to recreate an area for half a day to show what it could look like if it was more bicycle and pedestrian friendly and a place people want to be. By reducing traffic lanes to create a barrier between automobiles and pedestrians, widening sidewalks to give people space to gather and socialize and adding bike lanes, crosswalks, benches, greenery, and a plaza, we can create a place that everybody can use and enjoy; and the better block project does it in a fun way with music, art, food, and more. The purpose of the project is to revitalize the area. Essentially we are testing future ideas for increasing safety, bringing together the community and boosting the economy. The demand to be able to safely walk and bike in the area is rising but Fayetteville’s current walkability ranking of last out of all major cities isn’t, which makes it the perfect location for this type of project. With Fayetteville being such an active and engaged community with so much potential all we need to do is find a way to showcase that potential then we could make some great things happen here. And that’s exactly what we set out to achieve with Better Block Fay NC.
