Stadswandeling Gorinchem | Historische Vestingstad & Hollandse Waterlinie

I'm taking a city walk in Gorinchem, where the Linge and Boven-Merwede rivers meet. The virtually intact ramparts with bastions are part of the Dutch Waterline and are among the best preserved in the Netherlands. In the city center stands the Grote Kerk (Great Church), built in the 15th century. The town hall on the Grote Markt (Great Market Square) dates from the 16th century and has been renovated several times. Along the Lingehaven harbor are former warehouses and merchant houses from the 17th and 18th centuries, reminders of the period of economic prosperity. The city center contains several national monuments and historic street patterns, most of which date back to the Middle Ages. #citywalk #hike #History
