5/8/1987 Celtics at Bucks ECSF Game 3 Overtime thriller at the Mecca in Milwaukee

This is a video of the May 8, 1987 National Basketball Association Eastern Conference Semifinal Game 3 between the Boston Celtics and the Bucks in Milwaukee. It is the WLVI-TV Channel 56 in Boston broadcast, with Gil Santos on play by play, Bob Cousy on color, and Bob Gamere reporting from the sideline. Sidney Moncrief and the Bucks are trailing, two games to nothing, and need a win at the Mecca to make this a series. But Larry Bird and the Celtics aren't going to roll over, and this one goes into overtime. Notes: Some weird, wild stuff surrounded this game ... The announcers mention a story involving Dennis Johnson, Paul Mokeski, and Jack Sikma and wonder if it will affect their play. A report had just come out implicating them in a grand jury probe of drug use and gambling, which they all denied ... It's always a dicey situation, but if I were Kevin McHale I would have clocked the foul-mouthed fan and considered any fine the cost of doing business ... John Lucas was quite the penetrator ... Finally, and nothing against them, but every time I ever saw Fred Roberts and Darren Daye, I thought, "That should have been Len Bias." McHale was hurting, the starters were playing too many minutes. The Celtics would have won the championship this season were it not for Bias' tragic passing. Box score in comments. Copyright WLVI-TV or any other party.
