Neoclassicism! ▼▼CONTINUE BELOW▼▼ Neoclassicism is a movement that encompassed art and architecture, characterized by the desire to recreate the spirit and forms of ancient Greco-Roman art. Other terms used to define this phenomenon include new classicism, classical revival, return to order, and call to order. However, it was originally coined as a derogatory term, indicating a lack of vitality and personality. In painting, as in other fields, neoclassicism expressed itself in a heterogeneous manner, giving rise to such a flourish of styles and expressive forms that it is complex to define. It is also difficult to draw a precise line between neoclassicism and Romanticism, even though they appear to be spiritually polar opposites. This is because interest in antiquity is sometimes tinged with romantic sentiment. The video is also subtitled in Italian, English, French, and Spanish.
