As long as the observer is different from the thing observed, conflict and distortion are inevitable. Observing oneself is only possible in relationship, not theoretically. Our lives are a series of conflicts and struggles; we are never peaceful. Must the mind always live in the past? Can the mind, so heavily conditioned, free itself?
