For most people, my films are about giant waves, heavy slabs and chasing storms around Australia. But every now and then, it's nice to slow things down. Although I grew up in Adelaide, I've spent most of my life living in Sydney. For years I was immersed in the music industry, booking and promoting bands, while also working/filming closely with Quiksilver International. In 2002, after Sandrine and I welcomed our two boys, we decided it was time to trade the city for a healthier lifestyle. We moved to Avalon Beach on Sydney's Northern Beaches. It wasn't just a beautiful place to live—it became home. A place where our boys grew up, where lifelong friendships were made, and where the ocean became part of our everyday lives. When I'm not chasing monster swells around Australia, you'll often find me swimming through the lineup at Avalon with my camera housing, documenting the local surfers and the incredible community that calls this beach home. This film is a tribute to that place. It's about early morning light, crystal-clear water, perfect waves, and the people who make Avalon so special. It's a reminder that while I love documenting some of the heaviest waves on Earth, sometimes the most meaningful stories are found right in your own backyard. I hope you enjoy this cinematic glimpse into the place my family and I have been lucky enough to call home.
