Budget 2011: Let's shoot 1000 rounds for science...
Is $899 too cheap for a 2011 pistol? Today in Civilian Tactical – Science Lab Edition, we put a budget 2011 through a brutal reliability test to see if 1,000 rounds of 9mm can kill it. Some shooters swear cheap 2011 pistols are unreliable. Others say modern budget options perform just as well as $3,000 competition guns. So we decided to find out. In this experiment we run a 1,000 round burn-down test, firing in 200-round segments to see if this budget 2011 pistol can survive without catastrophic failure. But the pistol wasn’t the only thing under pressure. Along the way we also tested four pieces of budget gear that might save you serious money: • $2 gardening gloves vs $25 shooting gloves • The controversial Osite SE enclosed red dot • A $49 Harbor Freight pistol light • A “self-healing” target rated for 10,000 rounds Some of these results were expected… Others were very surprising. By the end of this test we answer some important questions: Can cheap 2011 pistols actually be trusted? Do expensive shooting gloves really matter? Will a budget pistol light survive heavy recoil? Do self-healing targets actually work? If you shoot regularly, this test might save you a lot of money. Or convince you that some gear is worth upgrading. Would you trust a budget 2011 for serious use? Drop your opinion in the comments.
