🥇 The 2026 U.S. Classic: A Changing of the Guard? The 2026 U.S. Classic in Hartford just wrapped up, and we are still catching our breath from an electrifying weekend of elite women's artistic gymnastics. From veteran returns to breakout performances, this meet had everything a gymnastics fan could ask for. Here is your full recap of the medal-winning performances you’ll see in today's video! Reese Esponda Steals the Show The biggest storyline of the night belongs to 17-year-old Reese Esponda. Coming off a frustrating two-month foot injury that limited her training, Esponda proved that she is an absolute force to be reckoned with. Known for her power and unique tumbling, she fought through to claim the All-Around gold with a massive 54.900, edging out two-time Olympic gold medalist Jade Carey. Esponda also dominated the floor exercise, taking gold with a 13.950, and scooped up a bronze on the balance beam. Veterans Carey and Blakely Make Triumphant Returns If anyone thought Jade Carey was slowing down after Paris 2024, they were mistaken. Competing in only her second elite meet since the Games, Carey looked phenomenal, capturing the vault gold with a promising 14.275 average (highlighted by a comfortable double-twisting Yurchenko) and taking silver in the all-around. She also grabbed a medal on floor. Meanwhile, two-time world team champion Skye Blakely reminded everyone why she is a master technician. In her first elite meet of the year, Blakely only competed on two apparatuses—but she made them count. She secured double gold, winning both the uneven Bars (14.100) and beam (14.250) with the highest single-event scores of the competition outside of vault. Rising Stars Make Their Mark The depth of U.S. gymnastics was on full display. Zoey Molomo put together a beautifully consistent meet to capture the All-Around bronze with a 53.900. We also have to talk about Izzy Stassi, who was an absolute medal magnet in Hartford, taking home silver medals on vault, uneven bars, and floor.
