m8 - Dibia$e Session 27 - Downtown Hustle Track Breakdown

This track started out on the Dirtywave M8 as just four different track ideas, but I figured I could probably merge and morph the track together in a way that would keep it sounding fun and fresh. Perhaps it's a bit too manic in some ways, but it also turned out quite nicely in my mind. Ultimately, as I started to flesh out the arrangement I noticed that I had a lot of repeats of loops, and I decided to reach for some FX to try and keep things changing, evolving even if a bit subtle sometimes, and keep the listener on their toes. Honestly, the majority of the work was done on the M8, but the Korg Kaoss Pad Mini 2S was pretty clutch as well, as I created an FX loop to send audio from the M8 to the Kaoss Pad, and record audio back into the M8 as loops. This then let me do a bit more slicing, resampling, playing things in reverse. To wrap up the track, I dropped it into Ableton Live to give it all a bit of EQ to pull out some of the low end that you couldn't really hear anyways, and to give it a little sparkle of compression. Not so much to kill the dynamic range, but certainly enough to pull it together a bit more and just make it a tiny bit louder. So what is this track? Well it's probably really two to four different songs crammed into a minute and thirty seconds, but the great part is it does really all come together.
