He’s celebrated for capturing the rugged beauty of the Yorkshire moors, using vibrant shadow‑light contrasts and rhythmic patterns in his compositions, often arranged in a strikingly impressionistic yet representational style. Paul has worked as a full-time artist since 1998 and authored four books to date. He has also contributed to major art publications such as The Artist, Artists and Illustrators and several more. Honors include membership in the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours (RI), association with British Watercolour Society, and roles as advisory panellist and president of Halifax Art Society. Paul has won several awards for his work and exhibits regularly including the Royal Institute annual shows and Mall Galleries. With 25+ years teaching experience, Paul leads workshops across the UK and abroad, in-person and online. His demonstrations are well-regarded for clarity and inspiration. He also offers painting courses via Big Sky Art and Cornwall Art School, as well as regular day courses and holiday residencies.
