This special day, initiated by Frederick Booth-Tucker (known as Fakir Singh), dates back to the early 20th century. Booth-Tucker, a dedicated Salvation Army officer, launched the first Arbour Day campaign in 1910, encouraging Salvation Army corps and institutions across India and Ceylon to plant and care for thousands of new trees.
