The Principle has no Favourites

A serious, quiet-delivery piece where I defend the due-process rights of a businessman whom I personally dislike (his politics and his company's pollution record) — who was detained under emergency powers with no charge laid. I take no position on his guilt or innocence. My comments are that due process must apply even to people you can't stand, or it isn't a right at all — it's a revocable favour.
