The Russian Revolution profoundly marked the 20th century and still frightens many in the 21st. It changed paradigms and destroyed an entire social structure at the cost of much, much bloodshed. On the other hand, it inspired workers around the world to fight for their rights. This video discusses the emergence of Marxism, the ideas of Marx and Engels, the first Russian revolutionary ideas, the February and October Revolutions of 1917, the Russian Civil War, Leninism, and Stalinism. The excerpts from old films featured in the video were taken from the documentary "Tsar to Lenin" and the films "October" and "Drowned Potenkin" by Sergei Eisenstein.
