Účes Solčany

A folk costume from Solčany village unexpectedly became a huge inspiration for creating jewellery. We introduced brooch sets inspired by the embroidery on the apron, jewellery inspired by the colourful folk bonnet and soon enough we will launch again, jewellery lightly inspired by the embroidery from Solčany, this time a black one. Seemingly simple but colourful folk bonnet was hiding an interesting hairstyle. Even though Solčany and Čičmany are 63 kilometres apart, they are connected by the names of the folk bonnet reinforcements. In Čičmany, you could have seen “grguľe” (pronounced softly, like in Čičmany) and this time you can see small horns called “grgule” (pronounced more roughly, like in Solčany). Unlike women in Čičmany, who barely cut their hair, women from Solčany shortened their hair and if it was too thick they cut individual strands so their hair would fit under the traditional folk bonnet. What do you say? Would you undertake a haircut and hair thinning on a wedding like women in Solčany used to?
