The municipality of Huampusirpi, in the department of Gracias a Dios, is in a state of extreme emergency after three days of massive flooding that have left the community adrift. Mayor Gloria Chávez reported that approximately 2,400 families have been affected by the overflowing rivers, losing all of their rice, cassava, corn, and plantain crops, which are the basis of their diet.
