Historically a key trading post, it briefly belonged to the Straits Settlements and continues to be a significant naval repair hub. As the primary ferry gateway to the Pangkor Island, it is natural that the coastal town of Lumut also enjoys some level of tourism and economical boost. Today, Lumut has expanded into a pretty respectful destination of its own.
