When a B-17 Pilot Attacked the Copilot
Follow and Wishlist our game on Steam https://store.steampowered.com/app/36... On 26th July 1943, a formation of B-17s was on a mission to strike factories in Hannover. Participating in the raid was Second Lieutenant John C. Morgan, from the 92nd Bomb Group. Morgan was a copilot inside the B-17F Ruthie II, which was severely hit by the Luftwaffe fighters upon reaching the enemy coast. After the pilot was injured, Morgan was forced to battle the now incoherent pilot for control of the plane. For his actions, Morgan earned the Medal of Honor. One of the main sources we used was the excellent book by Daniel Simmons, With His Hand: A Story of the Incredible Experiences of B-17 Pilot John C. "Red" Morgan During World War II.
