IISS Strategic Dossier launch: Russia’s Military Modernisation: An Assessment
During the launch of the latest IISS Strategic Dossier, Dr Bastian Giegerich, Douglas Barrie, Henry Boyd, Nick Childs, James Hackett and Fenella McGerty consider Russia’s increasingly capable armed forces as well as the extent and implications of Moscow’s military-modernisation efforts. This dossier is the culmination of a three-year programme drawing on internal events, country visits and open source analysis. It examines how Russia’s armed forces have benefited from a near decade-long period of increased investment, the impact of the most significant reforms since the collapse of the Soviet Union, and the introduction of new equipment.
