The Western Thracian Custom of Bey (Part 2) - Έθιμο του Μπέη (Μέρος 2)
The Greek traditional dancing group called "Chorostates" participated in a performance which is a traditional cultural event in the city of Thessaloniki, taking place once a year, for charity purpose with the participation of four other groups. The event is called "We Dance for the Life". In 2014, it took place at the Ceremony Hall of the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki, on February 22nd. The group presented briefly a traditional custom together with some songs and dances which are taking place in the days of carnival at some villages of Western Thrace in Greece. The custom is called "Beys". It refers to the rural life with satirical and sexist way, as it fits to the spirit of the carnival days. The teacher of the group, Mr. Apostolos Skrekas, was in charge of the whole performance.
