Top officer speaks out on allegations of sexual misconduct in the Canadian Forces
She is among the top ranks of the Canadian military and tonight Lt.-Col. Eleanor Taylor is speaking exclusively to Global News about her decision to quit. In a powerful one-on-one interview with our Ottawa Bureau Chief Mercedes Stephenson, Taylor explains disgust over allegations of sexual misconduct drove her away and fueled her hope to make a difference. “I am sickened by ongoing investigations of sexual misconduct among our key leaders. Unfortunately, I am not surprised,” wrote Taylor in the email, which was shared with Global News by multiple senior male leaders in the military — some of whom described reading it as a clarifying moment for them. “I am also certain that the scope of the problem has yet to be exposed.” Taylor has formally requested her release from the Canadian Armed Forces as soon as possible.
