The general dressed as a civilian and came to the dilapidated gate of the city. He walked to the place where they separated, beside the withered tree, and stroked the slate where the woman sat waiting for him to come back every day. People told him that there used to be a woman here who sat on this slate every day waiting for her beloved to return. The general could not find any trace of the woman in this dilapidated city, but he believed she had been waiting for him. At this moment, an old man came and told him that she had been alone until the day she died.
