Behind the Scenes from Roman: At the top of the trail, I met a Belarusian tandem paragliding guide who offered me a free ride back down. For a moment, I imagined how epic the video would be: hiking up like a normal hiker… then flying down like an eagle. Then my fear of heights reminded me that I’m much better at walking than flying. So I thanked him, kept both feet on the ground, and hiked all the way back down with my camera. Maybe one day I’ll be brave enough to film the “bird’s-eye version.” 😄 Some interesting facts about Poo Poo Point: Poo Poo Point is one of the most famous viewpoints near Seattle and is located within the Issaquah Alps. Despite its unusual name, the origin likely comes from the sound of old steam whistles once used by loggers in the area. Today, the summit is known as one of the premier paragliding launch sites in Washington State, and on clear summer days you can often watch colorful paragliders soaring above the valleys below. The trail climbs through classic Pacific Northwest forest ecosystems rich with Douglas-firs, western hemlocks, red cedars, sword ferns, and salal shrubs, offering hikers a glimpse into the remarkable biodiversity that thrives just outside Seattle.
