TRIBUN-VIDEO.COM - A video of a police raid in Palu City has gone viral on social media, causing a stir among residents of Central Sulawesi. In the approximately 2-minute 30-second video, several residents are seen attempting to block officers during the raid in a residential area. The situation escalated when a tactical vehicle belonging to the Mobile Brigade Corps (Satbrimob) of the Central Sulawesi Regional Police was pelted with stones by the crowd at the scene. The incident reportedly occurred in Kayumalue Village, North Palu District, Palu City. The footage, widely circulated on various social media platforms, shows tensions between police officers and a group of residents suspected of attempting to obstruct the arrest of a drug suspect. Responding to the video, the Head of Public Relations of the Central Sulawesi Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Djoko Wienartono, confirmed the incident. According to him, the incident in the video is part of a developing inter-provincial drug case. "Yes, that's right. On Thursday (October 23, 2025), the Mobile Brigade Corps of the Central Sulawesi Regional Police was requested to provide security assistance by the Gorontalo Regional Police Narcotics Investigation Directorate in developing a drug case in Kayumalue Village," said Senior Commissioner Djoko in Palu City, Friday (October 24, 2025). He explained that the operation was the result of collaboration between the Gorontalo Regional Police and the Central Sulawesi Regional Police. During the operation, officers successfully apprehended a woman suspected of being a drug dealer along with evidence in the form of methamphetamine and cash. "During the arrest, the situation on the ground became tense due to resistance from several residents who refused to accept it. However, officers managed to control the situation without any casualties," he explained. Currently, the suspect and evidence have been secured for further investigation. The police are also conducting further investigations to trace the drug network, which is suspected of having inter-provincial connections. The Central Sulawesi Regional Police urged the public to remain calm and not be provoked by rumors circulating on social media. Commissioner Djoko expressed regret over the resistance from some residents who appeared to be defending drug abusers. "Drugs are a common enemy because their impact is very destructive, especially for the nation's younger generation. We hope the public will support the police's efforts to eradicate drug networks, not the other way around," he emphasized. He added that the public is asked to think clearly and fully entrust law enforcement to the authorities.
