Is your Moodle version exposed? How to hide your Moodle version from would-be hackers.

TL;DR - Keep your Moodle up-to-date and hide your version numbers from public view for better security. Recently, the CanvasLMS suffered a horrible attack. That got me thinking about security on Moodle. An aspect of Moodle security I have researched in the past is how Moodle sites expose version information to unauthenticated users. This is dangerous as disclosing that your site runs an out-of-date basically tells would-be hackers which security holes have not yet been patched on your server. In other words, it tells hackers where you are vulnerable. In this video, I look at three ways in which Moodle version information is disclosed; two from incorrectly configured servers, and one from some rather unfortunate Moodle code; as well as information on how to protect against such accidental version information disclosures. 25:20 Timestamp for more recent disclosures from Moodle by default (recommended changes)
