Arthur Levine (NYU, Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation, Teachers College) and Liz willen (The Hechinger Report) discuss Preview of The Great Upheaval: Higher Education’s Past, Present and Uncertain Future at the 2021 ASU+GSV Summit. In the next 20 years, consumers of higher education will determine what higher education will be, and every institution will have to change. Research universities and residential colleges will be more aligned with work and offer new types of credentials. Community colleges and regional universities will be disrupted and compete with corporations and cultural agencies for large numbers of students seeking low-cost,  online, anywhere/anytime courses, and just-in-time credentials. In this provocative session, Arthur Levine, co-author of The Great Upheaval, will be interviewed by Hechinger Report’s editor in chief Liz Willen, and offer a preview of the book’s findings before its release in September.
