Traveling is a great school, capable of making us more sensitive to the realities of others. You don't have to be a millionaire to take a transformative trip. All it takes is the desire to experience another culture and for that culture to experience you. In this way, connections are created, and you can even learn to be a better person. Journalist Karisa Cruz tells us about several of her student trips and how they have contributed to her professional and personal growth. Karisa is a traveler who uses her studies and work as an excuse to explore the world and other cultures. She loves producing and writing. She studied Information and Journalism at the University of Puerto Rico and later earned a master's degree in film and television from the Savannah College of Art and Design. She began her journalism career as a sub-editor for the newspaper Diálogo Digital. Since 2008, she has written a current affairs column for El Nuevo Día. In 2015, she was awarded the Overseas Press Club's Best Special Report prize for her multimedia series titled "Cuba, with its lights and shadows," published in Metro World News. Today, this communicator lives in Puerto Rico and works as a freelance journalist and collaborates in various areas of film production.
