Mt. Fuji is visible at first. This run starts at Nakai Parking Area on the E1 Tomei Expressway — Japan's first expressway, linking Tokyo and Nagoya — heading west toward the mountain at dawn. Early on, Mt. Fuji sits clear in the morning light, almost too easy to see. Then the weather turns. Closer to Gotemba, the fog thickens fast, until the road ahead just ends in white. No mountain. No horizon. Only the next few meters of wet asphalt — and underneath it, road noise, tire grip, and raw exhaust. It holds like that for a while. Then the run leaves the expressway at Gotemba, joins the Higashi-Fujigoko Road, and reaches Subashiri IC — where the fog breaks all at once. Mt.
