Back in 1964, Roy Orbison was trying to write some music with his partner Bill Dees when Claudette, Roy's wife, walked into the room to say she was heading out to the city to buy some clothes. Roy asked her if she needed any cash, to which Bill Dees chimed in with a smile: "A pretty woman never needs any money." Inspired by that witty phrase, Roy Orbison grabbed his guitar and immediately started strumming and singing the opening lines: "Pretty woman, walking down the street...". By the time Claudette got back from her shopping trip just forty minutes later, the song was completely written! It went on to become the biggest hit of Roy's career and, decades later, inspired the title of the iconic Julia Roberts and Richard Gere film.
