Raising the Anchor Without a Windlass
I don't have a windlass on Windflower, my Cartwright 40, and my anchor is 55lbs. When I raise it from water over 25' deep, I use a block and tackle. It's easy, and I've raised the anchor from 80' deep with this technique. You need a single block, another single block with a becket and a chain hook attached, about 60' of line, another chainhook on a rope (I use my snubber for this) and a pair of full-finger gloves, which I wear every time I handle the anchor.
