An-Nasr (The Help) - Chapter 110
Continuing with our tafsir lecture series, today we discuss Surat An Nasr chapter 110 of the Quran which may have been the last Surat revealed to the Prophet (sal) according to some commentators. Any surat or topic in the Quran has some roots in near or distant past. In order to understand the specific verses, we must go back to these roots or backgrounds and then move forward from that point to the point such verses were revealed. A micro historic journey. This surat which is called an Nasr or the help and another surat called al Fath (The Victory) have similar roots. A brief background for this Surat takes us back to Meccan time when the Prophet and his followers were under tremendous pressure, as Allah (SWT) tells the Prophet to be forward looking. The victory will come (in the future). Be patient. Ask for forgiveness for your impatience. In other words, help and victory is coming as . . .
