The lighthouse was built to ensure navigation safety in the Bungo Channel. The lens and lamps were relocated from the previous lighthouse and lit in April 1918. The lighthouse is about 1.8km from the parking lot, and it takes about 20 minutes to walk along the promenade. Along the way, you'll see the remains of the former Japanese military headquarters and the Bungo Fortress batteries. It was quite moving to think that the battleship Yamato passed through the Bungo Channel, which can be seen from here, for the last time. It was already dark by the time we left the tip, but We took the National Route 94 ferry from Misaki Port in Ikata Town to Oita City, traveling from Shikoku to Kyushu. The 31km journey from Misaki Port on the Sada Misaki Peninsula in Ehime Prefecture to Saganoseki in Oita Prefecture took 70 minutes on the National Route 49 ferry. The fare was 10,200 yen. We arrived safely via the Bungo Channel, the epicenter of last month's earthquake on the 17th.
