About 15km east from Higashiyama Onsen, a haven in Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture, we drove deep into the mountains. This is a remote, uninhabited area! While driving along the extremely narrow Fukushima Prefectural Route 325, I unexpectedly encountered a person walking along the road! I was so engrossed, I assumed there would be no one around, so I panicked for a moment. They were dressed for hiking, so perhaps they were out climbing? But there don't seem to be any mountains to climb around here, do you think? Thinking about this, I continued driving, until I came to the end of Prefectural Route 325, where the Yukawa Forest Road has been closed for several years. It was impossible to go any further. Turning left along the prefectural road, I found myself on the Midorigen Trunk Forest Road. A magnificent road appeared, seemingly out of place in the mountains, a place that could be described as remote. As I was thinking about the purpose of building this forest road, I came across a surprisingly impressive tunnel, again in the middle of the mountains? "Niheiji Tunnel" After passing through this impressive tunnel and driving for a while, I arrived at my destination, "A Side Road in the Mountains." I got out of the car and explored the area, and found a barely legible signpost: "Tashiro Line Forest Road." I've driven the Midori Shigen Main Forest Road many times, but this was my first time taking this side road.
