IIB Webinar: New licensing requirements for provision of cross-border banking services into Europe

In June 2024, the EU Commission published CRD VI (EU Directive 2024/1619), which will regulate the provision of cross-border banking services into the EU (and EEA) by third-country banks and large investment firms from 11 January 2027. From this date, unless an exemption is available, third country institutions will be restricted from providing lending, deposit taking, or guarantees and commitments in EU/EEA Member States other than from a locally licensed branch. This session will discuss the scope and impact of those requirements and what third country banks will need to do to prepare. Speakers: Bob Penn, Global Co-Head, Financial Services Regulatory, A&O Shearman Lena Kiely, Partner, Financial Services Regulatory, A&O Shearman Nick Bradbury, Partner, Financial Services Regulatory, A&O Shearman
