Residents of Dezghinja are opposed to the reorganization of the local Health Center, which the central government plans to merge with a larger institution, the Comrat District Hospital, as part of a reform. Victor Neagu, head of the village medical center, explains that it currently serves 4,770 people, and that if the reorganization goes ahead, as with any other medical facility in the autonomous region, local residents will have to travel tens of kilometers to the district hospital for basic medical records, lab tests, or treatment referrals. Both local residents and medical professionals are categorically opposed to such changes.
