Aquarium opened at Resorts World Sentosa on November 22, 2012. At the time, it was the world's largest aquarium in terms of total water volume, holding approximately 45,000,000 liters (9,900,000 imperial gallons, 12,000,000 US gallons) of water, and housing more than 100,000 individual marine, brackish, and freshwater animals belonging to over 800 species. The S.E.A. Aquarium closed on April 30, 2025 for renovation and expansion, and reopened as the Singapore Oceanarium on July 24, 2025.
