Can One Website Make You a Better Drone Pilot?

Do you want to be a better drone pilot? What if I told you it's possible? You gotta see this... Whether you're a brand-new drone pilot or you've been flying for years, preparing for a flight often means bouncing between multiple apps and websites. One for the weather. Another for airspace. Another for camera settings. Maybe another to figure out which ND filter you should use. In this video, we're taking a look at Drone Companion, a web-based platform designed to bring many of those tools together in one place. From weather information and drone-specific camera settings to ND filter recommendations, flying locations, mapping, pilot resources, and more, Drone Companion aims to simplify the entire pre-flight process. To put it to the test, we headed to beautiful Rattlesnake Island, just north of Marineland, Florida, where I walked through the platform's features while adding a little of the usual Roberts-style commentary along the way. Then it was time for the real test. Using my DJI Mini 4 Pro (Dwight), I flew the exact same waypoint mission twice. The first flight was completed without an ND filter. For the second flight, I used the ND filter recommended by Drone Companion based on the lighting and weather conditions to see how much difference it actually made. After the flights, I also demonstrate how to wirelessly Quick Transfer a photo from the DJI RC2 controller to my phone before uploading it directly into Drone Companion's Fly Points feature.
