The didactic unit, the components of cultural competence, the structural contradictions of teaching practice, the relationship between communication and action, pairs of opposing methods, the various established methodologies and available "methodological objects" are all concrete examples that illustrate how managing the complex relationship between the teaching and learning processes has always made these opposites work together in a complementary way. Contrary to the dominant, monolithic thinking in language and culture didactics for over 30 years, which emphasizes only positive multiplicity—diversity and plurality—it is necessary, in all areas of language and culture didactics, to think in a complex way.
