The Walk - EP 51 - Black Liquid Gold - UK's First Oilwell - Tibshelf, Derbyshire

First of all, big thank to Oilwell Nursery in Hardstoft for letting me film. Lovely people. I take a leisurely stroll along the five pits trail up to Pilsley railway station on the former Great Central main line, before taking a left turn off to a little known piece of British history. For just a short walk away is the site of the UK's first inland oil well. During the First World War, the need for fuel security was such that three sites in the UK were located for exploration. Hardstoft, just outside Tibshelf was one of those three, and the first to strike gold. *Made some merch for the railway fans like myself.
