I recently introduced a new type of deck, separating them into a separate category: disposable decks. Yes, it turns out they exist. Beautiful, disposable decks for blogging. Over the years of practice, I've noticed an interesting pattern: some decks can easily withstand years of active use—constant, fairly aggressive shuffling, spreads, friction, daily contact with hands and surfaces—while others, despite their original beauty, quickly deteriorate. In this video, I share my observations and discuss two types of decks: working decks, which perform exceptionally well in the dynamic practice of a tarot reader; display decks, which can be used statically: for blogging and beautiful spreads. We'll discuss why some decks last for years, which decks are in my collection, which publishers, which lines, and what happens to the cards during intensive consulting work. This isn't a review of good or bad decks, but rather an attempt to categorize decks by functionality and their initial capabilities. Which decks are definitely suitable/unsuitable for an active tarot practitioner, and which decks are suitable for a blogger working on the visual and aesthetic aspects of their blog.
