Emma looks up, slightly startled, then quickly hides her phone. EMMA: Uh, just… You know, the usual. Dad notices her distraction but decides to approach it positively. DAD: How’s it all going? EMMA: Ugh stop asking me that. I need to concentrate! DAD: I think you could use a break. How about we have some lunch together? I was thinking we could make your favourite - pizza. Emma hesitates, then shakes her head. EMMA: I haven’t liked pizza in ages! You always do this. Dad gives Emma a knowing look as if to say “I know you love pizza - what’s going on?” EMMA: Do you know how bad pizza is for your brain? Kayla said the saturated fat, like, clogs our brains and I’ll never pass my exams. As Emma finishes her sentence she gets more worked up, and puts her head in her arms on the table. Dad’s concerned. DAD: Who’s Kayla? EMMA [with her head buried in her arms]: On Tiktok. DAD: The occasional treat isn’t that bad, Emma. Everything in moderation. Emma lifts her head up in frustration. EMMA: Fine! I'll make something healthy. Emma stands and starts to walk towards the kitchen Dad's concern grows, but he tries to keep the conversation light. DAD: Oh, really?
