This is the family story of Hisaya Morishige (1913-2009). A man who lost his father at the age of two, pretended his wife was his "sister," and supported his family of five by selling fish in the black market, eventually becoming known as "Japan's national father." This is the story of his son, Ken, and the truth behind his father's true character, as told by him, and the events of the funeral attended by 1500 people. Born in Osaka in 1913, Hisaya Morishige lost his father at the age of two, and his mother was not his legal wife. His three children each adopted different surnames, and eventually Morishige took Kyoko into his home, pretending she was his "sister." Life in Manchuria, the end of the war, black market dealings, the Nankai earthquake—the 33-year-old father did anything to support his family of five. Even after achieving fame as an actor, Morishige continued to gather people. He adopted a daughter, dressed her in a red kimono, and sent her off, creating a group known as the "Morishige Family." He continued to deliver eulogies, earning the title of "Eulogy Sage."
