This is a commissioned portrait that will be put on the cover of Russell Stendal's book, a Biblical commentary on the life of David. My goal? To paint him filled with joy, dancing before the Lord with all his might, as it says he did in scripture. David had a lot of ups and downs in his life, so I can really relate to him. I know what it is like to be deeply discouraged, almost even to the point of despair. But after seeking the Lord, or when some kind person in my life encourages me, light arises in the darkness, and I am happy again! This is that kind of moment that I am endeavoring to capture here. Pure joy!
