Saleng rules out Mukul’s return, welcomes Zenith back to Congress

Tura Lok Sabha MP, Saleng A. Sangma, on Wednesday said it is unlikely that former Chief Minister Dr. Mukul M. Sangma will return to the Congress Party. Speaking to reporters, Saleng said, “Dr. Mukul has already made it clear that he will not rejoin the Congress. Even the media has reported his firm stance that he will never come back to the party.” Commenting on the return of former TMC leader Zenith M. Sangma to the Congress, the Tura MP said Zenith had “redeemed himself” by rejoining the party. Referring to the biblical parable of the prodigal son, Saleng said, “Just like parents welcome their son back home, the Congress family has also accepted Zenith. The high command too has welcomed him because he is a good man who wants to work for the people of the State.” Saleng further asserted that the Congress remains deeply rooted among the people. “Congress is always with the people. Sometimes, when wrong candidates are fielded, people move away — but the Congress is not finished and will always be there,” he said confidently.
