NOC-TECH - Mamiya 1000 DTL

Hello everyone. Today Ryuichi tells us about the Mamiya/Sekor 1000 DTL In the second half of the 1960s, Mamiya produced a series of SLR cameras using the popular M42 bayonet built around the ability to offer Spot metering and not center-weighted average like in most SLRs on the market at the time. Part of this series that began with the 500 TL and ended with the 2000 DTL (all produced between 1966 and 1968) is the 1000 DTL described by Ryuichi. Thanks to the DTL (dual-metering light) metering the photographer can select between two different metering methods: average (unweighted) metering and "spot" metering with a viewfinder indication of the selected mode. Mamiya was founded by Mamiya Seiichi and Sugawara Tsunejirō in May 1940 and began its camera production with the Mamiya Six series. It produced analog cameras until 2001 (Mamiya 645 AFD). In 2005 it introduced the digital medium format Mamiya ZD 22MP and the following year it sold all camera production to Cosmo Digital Imaging. In 2009, two versions of the 645 AFD equipped with a Phase One back were produced and in 2011 Mamiya was listed as a Phase One Company. As of 2023, the Mamiya Leaf website (also Leaf owned by Phase One Company) has disappeared and the Phase One website no longer mentions the Mamiya name, although it is clear that the brand continues to be present in Phase One's production (the Phase One XF camera is clearly a Mamiya 645 AF "in disguise"). Companies, designers and innovation that have helped write the history of photography and are able to fill us with joy and give us satisfaction even today. Enjoy the show everyone.
