The Boatyard Blues Continue: Rudder, Antifoul & Splash Day
Join this channel to support us: / @adamandvickistravels After two weeks in the boatyard, the day we’ve been working towards has finally arrived. In this episode, we continue our Boatyard Blues series as Te Tāiko’s rudder rebuild enters its final stages. After discovering significant corrosion in our rudder stock, what began as a routine maintenance haul-out turned into one of our most stressful boat repairs we’ve faced since setting sail through the South Pacific. Join us as we make progress on the new rudder stock, complete electrical continuity testing to ensure the rudder is connected to a sacrificial anode for corrosion protection, continue antifouling the hull, reinstall the rudder, and prepare for splash day. Living aboard a sailboat means the adventure doesn’t stop when the sails come down. Behind every ocean passage, remote anchorage, and new destination is the maintenance, planning, and problem-solving that keeps a cruising yacht safe and seaworthy. Whether you enjoy sailboat refits, boatyard projects, yacht maintenance, liveaboard life, offshore sailing, cruising adventures, boat repairs, travel by sailboat, or simply following our journey aboard Te Tāiko, we hope you’ll come along for the ride. From New Zealand to the islands of the South Pacific and now Australia, we’re sharing both the highlights and the hard work that make this lifestyle possible. Subscribe and follow our journey as we continue travelling by land and sea, exploring new places, overcoming challenges, and preparing Te Tāiko for the adventures still to come. #SailingLife #BoatWork #BoatyardLife #SailboatMaintenance #CruisingLife #Liveaboard #SailingAdventure #YachtRepair #SailboatRefit #OffshoreSailing #BoatProjects #TravelVlog #AdventureTravel #Australia #TeTaiko #LiveaboardLife As always, thanks for watching.
