The First Time This F1 Car Has Run in Nearly 30 Years | FW20 Shakedown
After nearly 30 years, the 1998 Williams FW20 moves under its own power once again. In this episode, we take the fully restored Williams FW20 to Sywell Aerodrome for its first runway shakedown. Rebuilt from the ground up by TDF/Works, this historic Formula 1 car has been returned to the track. Now running a custom-installed JUDD V10 engine delivering comparable power with increased torque over the original unit. This is not a full circuit test. This is the first controlled systems check. The first moment the car proves itself again. We roll the car out, complete final preparations, fire the V10 into life, and begin initial shakedown runs. During early testing, a downshifting issue emerges. Using live data analysis, the team identifies the exact fault, makes precise adjustments, and sends the FW20 back out. The result is a clean, confident run and the beginning of its next chapter. Full circuit testing is to follow. This episode documents the process, the problem-solving, and the reality of bringing a historic Formula 1 car back to life.
