Tutorial for Throwing Off the Hump - Ceramic Masterclass

Many of our students travel to Korea to learn how to effectively throw pottery off the hump! This approach allows you to make many pieces efficiently, saving both time and strength. Students are most often confused by how to get started and plan ahead, and how to control the size of pieces they wish to make. You need to be making with your final design in mind. In this tutorial I start by explaining the main approach and prevailing logic, and then demonstrate what this means in practice with six exercises for different forms with varying heights and foot widths. Give these a go and let me know if you have any questions! In order to be able to complete these forms well, it is essential to be able to first centre and relax your clay.
